Patchouly (Pogostemon cablin) *sometimes spelled Patchouli

Patchouly has a very earthy, oriental, powerful, musky, pungent, medicinal, spicy, warm and woody scent. It's scent has an appeasing, calming, yet uplifting effect on the mind. The oil is steam distilled from the flowers.

This oil is useful for depression, frigidity, anxiety and stress-related conditions.

This oil blends very well with bergamot, lavender, myrrh, neroli, frankincense, geranium, ginger, rosewood, lemongrass, sandalwood, vetiver and cedarwood.
Use this oil in your evening bath to soothe anxiety and refresh the spirits. 5 - 10 drops.
Patchouly is often considered "one of those scents" meaning you either love it or hate it.

As a perfume:

This can be a long-lasting perfume with lots of oriental appeal. Don't over-do it though - this is strong stuff. It's nice to blend with sandalwood for a perfume too.

For chapped or cracked hands:

  • 1 drop rosewood
  • 1 drop patchouly
  • 1 drop geranium

  • Add to about a tablespoon of body lotion and rub on your hands at least three times a day.

    Patchouly is generally considered safe during pregnancy.

    For Athlete's foot:
    • 11 drops geranium
    • 6 drops myrrh
    • 13 drops melaleuca
    • 6 drops patchouly
    Add these essential oils to 1 tablespoon (15ml) of V-6 Mising Oil or Massage Oil base and apply to infected areas between toes and around toenails.
