Focus on Marjoram (Origanum marjorana)

Hyssop has a herbaceous, spicy, nutty, penetrating, woody and slightly camphoraceous scent. It's scent is soothing and fortifying to the mind, relaxing and warm - often recommended for those suffering from grief or loneliness. The oil is steam distilled from the leaves of the plant.

Marjoram has quite similar properties to Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree). This can of course be a great help for those who run out of Tea Tree or don't tolerate it well.

Enjoy your strawberries longer:

Place 3 drops of Lemon oil in a glass or ceramic bowl. Then fill the bowl with cool water. Clean the fruit and add to the water. Let the strawberries float. After a minute or two stir the fruit and let them sit for a couple more minutes. Then drain the fruit and store as you normally would.

Relaxing, sedative bath:

Add 5-10 drops of Marjoram to a bath, after the water is drawn. Mix it well and enjoy. This is great for PMS, insomnia, anxiety, headache, migraine and stress.

Marjoram is generally listed as an oil to avoid during pregnancy.

Ok, so it's time to store away the winter clothes. But how do we keep moths from eating them till we need them again?
These oils are perfect for the job:

  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass
  • Rosemary
Place 2 - 3 drops of your chosen oil on tissues/tissue paper. Wait a few minutes for them to dry and place them between your clothes before storage. How many you use is of course dependent on the amount of clothes you're storing as well as personal preference.
