Cypress (Cupressis sempervirens)

Cypress has a very pleasant balsamic, dry, smoky, spicy, sweet, tenacious, woody and balsamic scent. It's scent is calming and of benefit during times of transition (like career changes, moves or the ending of relationships. The oil is steam distilled from the branches of the tree at a ratio of 30 pounds of plant material to yield 1 pound of oil.

This oil strengthens overburdened nervous systems and restores calm.

This oil blends very well with bergamot, clary sage, juniper, lavender, lemon, orange, sandalwood, pine and cedarwood.
Use this oil in your vaporizer/diffuser to clear the head, kill germs and keep insects at bay. Cypress is a very popular incense still burned by the Tibetans for purification.

For feet that perspire severely:

  • 5 drops Cypress
  • 5 drops Lemon
Add this to a foot bath (description of a foot bath is here).

Bathing for PMS Relief:

Add 5 -10 drops of Cypress to a bath, after the water is drawn. Mix it well and enjoy. This can be helpful for menopausal problems, irritability, anxiety and stress-related problems too.

Cypress is best avoided in the first trimester of pregnancy.
